Every year World Mosquito day is observed on the 20th of August throughout the world commemorating the discovery of the presence of malarial parasite ( Plasmodium sp.) in the gut of female anopheles mosquito by Ronald Ross in 1897. he received the Nobel prize in Physiology and Medicine in 1902 for his discovery.
