Red-green colour blindness in man is a sex-linked character because the genes responsible for color blindness are located on the X chromosome. In humans, due to presence of one X chromosome males are more likely to be color blind than females. As females have two X chromosomes, a defect in one X chromosome is normally compensated for by the other X chromosome.
