Which Receptors Are Used By HIV To Enters CD4+ T Helper Cell?

The envelope glycoprotein (Env) of HIV, has two subunits gp120 and gp41. When HIV interacts with the helper T cell, the gp120 subunit has a high-affinity binding site for the T cell receptor CD4 (CD4+ helper T Cell). This binding of gp120 to CD4 triggers conformational changes in subunit gp41, which enable its interactions with a co-receptor, C-C chemokine receptor type 5 (CCR5).
