Every year World Mosquito day is observed on the 20th of August throughout the world commemorating the discovery of the presence of malarial parasite (Plasmodium sp.) in the gut of female anopheles mosquito by Ronald Ross in 1897. he received the Nobel prize in Physiology and Medicine in 1902 for his discovery.
