Morphologically, there are three distinct forms of bacteria that exist. (1) Spherical, (2) Cylindrical or rod-shaped, and (3) Spiral. Spirochaetes are very thin, elongate, flexible, spiral long, or helically coiled bacteria with lengths between 3 and 500 μm and diameters around 0.09 to at least 3 μm.
